Construction firms

VolkerWessels has once again obtained top marks in this annual ranking of best sustainability reports. With its 17th place, the conglomerate is a leader in sustainability reporting in the Netherlands. As in previous years, the BAM Group secured a higher rating at 9th place. Behind us are Heijmans in 40th place, Dura Vermeer in 95th and Ballast Nedam in 52nd.

The winners

This year's winner of ‘De Kristal 2012' ('The Crystal 2012') for the most transparent sustainability report is DSM, followed by Akzo Nobel and Philips. The jury also judged authenticity and praised winner DSM for the report's legibility, its demonstrated vulnerability (for example, with the chapter entitled 'What went wrong' in the report) and the intensive stakeholder dialogue.

Transparency

The Transparency Benchmark comprises the 500 biggest Dutch companies. The Transparency Benchmark uses 50 criteria to evaluate the content and quality of the reporting on the social aspects of doing business. Stakeholders increasingly expect companies to be transparent about their performance in the social area.
