VolkerWessels is investing in an electric 160-ton crawler crane
Today, VolkerWessels received its new 160-tonne electric crawler crane. This crawler crane can operate for a full working day without having to plug into a green power supply. With this crane, VolkerWessels introduces a unique zero-emission machine on the sustainable building site.

The investment in an electric crawler crane is fully in line with previous investments in sustainable equipment by VolkerWessels and various subsidiaries. For example, electric asphalt spreaders, rollers and a vibrating device were purchased recently. This way, VolkerWessels is working towards its sustainability ambition: emission-free in 2030.
VolkerWessels has chosen the EC160 model, a 160 tonne crawler crane with a 42 metre main boom and a 43 metre luffing jib. In addition, two exchangeable battery boxes, each with 130 kWh, have been added. These LFP batteries are 100% recyclable, as they do not contain any acids or heavy metals.
Dick van de Laar, director at VolkerWessels Materieel & Logistiek: "By investing in 100% electric hoisting, we are putting our money where our mouth is in realising our sustainability ambitions. In this way we are working towards an emission-free VolkerWessels in 2030."
