VolkerWessels Logistics Development develops new head office and DC for SIG Benelux
VolkerWessels Logistics Development (VWLD) has signed an agreement with SIG Benelux for the construction and development of a new head office and distribution centre in Waalwijk. SIG Benelux is market leader in the supply of specialist materials for finishing and technical insulation. The construction of the distribution centre, consisting of an industrial area of approx. 14,000 sq.m. and a high quality office space of approx. 1,500 sq.m., has already started and will be handed over to SIG Benelux mid-April 2021.
Specifically designed DC
The location of the distribution centre at Industrieweg 41a in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, was bought speculative at the beginning of this year. Shortly after the purchase of the land VWLD and SIG Benelux came into contact with each other. SIG Benelux had the wish to acquire a new location to replace and merge its locations in Oisterwijk and Tilburg. SIG Benelux and VWLD then embarked on a design process in order to arrive at the current design together.
Ronald Hoozemans (managing director) of SIG Benelux: "SIG Benelux stands for professional knowledge, functional expertise and an unambiguous working method while retaining the local character of the branches close to our clients. Because that is important in a sector where everything revolves around people work and personal relationships. In Waalwijk, we bring our services such as logistics and customer service under one roof. As a result, we make use of our scale and are closer to our business. This enables us to support our customers, suppliers and local branches even better. This is necessary in order to continue to develop our role as a connector in the market and to achieve the growth we want to achieve. SIG Benelux is ready for the future."
Roeland van den Berg of VWLD: "We came into contact with SIG Benelux at an ideal time to be able to offer a tailor-made suit in which all the standard specifications of a sustainable and modern DC together with the specific wishes of SIG Benelux could be integrated.”
The building was designed by Kern Architects and the office interior was designed by Atelier Robidoux. As general contractor, Systabo (part of VolkerWessels) is responsible for the realisation. JLL in collaboration with Bridgegap assisted VWLD during the rental process and Districon advised SIG Benelux.
